Coming Burleigh Attractions

MAPS & NETWORKS:
The map page will continue to have new data added as materials are discovered and transcribed. A feature visualizing the abolitionist networks constructed from Cyrus Moses Burleigh's diaries will be developed separately from the map. When Cyrus's diaries are entirely transcribed and edited, the Burleigh DH team will design insightful exhibits from the given data. All names, places, and events derived from Cyrus's diaries will be incorporated into the larger databases of the site, too, and will therefore be searchable.
PRIMARY SOURCE BIBLIOGRAPHIES:
Comprehensive bibliographies for the three most prolific Burleighs - Charles Calistus Burleigh, William Henry Burleigh, and George Shepard Burleigh - will be made available on this site when they approximate being comprehensive. These will incorporate prose pieces from newspapers, including anonymous and pseudonymous pieces that can be reasonably ascribed to these authors. Full poetry catalogues for William and George are close to conclusion, and will be up on the site sooner than the comprehensive bibliographies. In the meantime, there are bibliography pages connected to these three, and some other family members, featuring their major published works in pamphlet and book form.
ARTISTIC CATALOGUES:
The artistic works of L.R. Burleigh (lithographer), Charles Calistus Burleigh Jr. (painting and drawings), and Sydney Richmond Burleigh (painting and a wide variety of other media) are in development. The Burleigh DH team would LOVE to add an enterprising graduate student, or retired art historian, to help with this aspect of the job. The team (mainly Rycenga and Carr) have done a considerable amount of the preliminary gathering. But the construction of full catalogues raisonnés surely could use the help of art-historically trained experts!
WRITINGS BY BURLEIGH FAMILY MEMBERS:
There are numerous poems, short stories, letters, and essays by Burleigh family members that are inaccessible or buried deep in archival newspapers. The Burleigh team will post more of these over the years as they are transcribed. Check back for updates. Once the Primary Source Bibliographies are complete and posted, internal links to these works by the Burleighs will be incorporated into the bibliographies for ease of access.
