  • In 2001, a total of 8 rape cases reported to San Jose State University Police Department. Associated Students urging SJSU to take action in stopping violence towards women and girls on campus. 
Highlights underrpeported reality of sexual violence and the need for accountability of the university, as well as the power of Associated Students challenging the system.
  • Spartan Bookstore Manager tells members of the Women’s Center that the Penthouse magazine issue will be removed if there continues to be violence against women represented in their issues. Members of Women’s Center not happy with the conditional decision.
  • “Ogaz said she didn’t feel the committee would do the center justice because they didn’t have any level of expertise with the issues pertinent to women”
  •  SJSU student goes through process of deciding to get an abortion; learns of abortion counselling center on campus.
