Let thy HEART speak, O Bard! And thou shalt find
How lovingly will every heart respond;
For its sweet lore, though deep, is not beyond
The lowliest brother’s. All of human kind,
Of every tongue and nation, grade, or mind,
Echo its jindly utterance, and the bond
Of Brotherhood is strengthened. Not unconned
Is the Heart’s volume, though the soul be blind.
Let they words fall, with Love’s pure sunbeams warm,
So shall they bless where harsher tones would fail;
All love the sunshine, few admire the storm;
The zephyr pleases, but we dread the gale;
Speak to the God, the God shall make reply;
But to thy sterner tone shall Echo sternly cry.
