Hymn - Where is the promise that day is advancing
I.
Where is the promise that day is advancing?
When shall the morning of jubilee dawn?
Lo! in the Eastward, a starbeam is glancing,
Lovely, and bright on the brow of the morn.
II.
Soon may the sunrise of Freedom in splendor,
Glance o’er a world in the midnight of wrong;
Then shall the tyrant oppressor surrender
Him, to himself, he hath trampled so long.
III.
Wait awhile, brother, thy servitude under;
So shall the morning of freedom be calm;
Speed thou oppressor, thy manacles sunder
Speed, for Jehovah is baring his arm!
V.
Now is the day, and the hour of repentance;
Turn from the evil and all may be well;
Back! ere thou sink at thy terrible sentence,
Down in the jaws of Destruction and Hell!
