Hymn - There is no evil thing
I.
There is no evil thing,
Indeed, or cherish'd thought,
But in the day of visiting
By God—shall wholly come to nought.
II.
Oppression, for a while
May lift its impious crest;
And robbery, and fraud, and guile,
And murder, mar the human breast.
III.
But Heav'n shall vindicate
Its statutes, ever just;
And lay the spoiler desolate,
Who hath made man the prey of lust.
IV.
Freedom, for soul and limb,
Is God's eternal law;
And they who shackle man, on HIM
Have wag'd their heav'n defying war.
V.
For this shall judgments burn
Till none can count the slain;
And God shall turn and overturn,
Till He whose right it is, shall reign.
