Mrs Herbert
She has left one by the wayside but I shall follow soon.
I am nearing to the sunset – in the dusky afternoon.
Why should I halt or linger in the path which she has trod?
As if any weary foot-soles were clinging to the sod?
The light that shone upon her face – from the glory in the West,
Failed not until she passed beyond the sunset to her rest.
We feel the chill that follows, on the setting of the sun,
But an After-glow still lingers when the perfect day is done
