The wisest are not always wise,
The fools not always silly;
A doly may sometimes well advise
When sages prompt but illy.
The seer—who didn’t see, alas!
Was saved by his loquacious ass.
But yet, O ye confiding masses
Ye can too wholly trust in your loquacious asses
