What Is It?
Two little feet with peas for toes,
Two little heels as red as a rose,
Two white rolls with a wrinkle amid
To mask the place where his knees are hid;
One pretty body as soft as silk,
Just like a peony drowned in milk;
Two fat arms as plump as a link,
And fair as a lily that blooms by a pink;
Two blue eyes with a baby in each,
Two round cheeks like a rare-ripe peach,
Two little nostrils rosy & thin,
One little dimple in one wee chin;
One red cherry put up to kiss,
And two little teeth in the cleft of this, –
And that’s the way the Baby is made, –
But Baby is more than song ere said!
