Front page of the issue that covers the mob attack on William Lloyd Garrison. The story from the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society and the poem extolling women's power, as well as a reference to a letter from Angelina Grimké, make this an important document in women's history. It is also prior to Charles C. Burleigh's report of the mob on page 3 (p. 171 in annual page order)
Front view of George Shepard Burleigh and Ruth Burgess Burleigh's home in Little Compton Rhode Island, known as "The Owl's Nest" - from Minnie Spies thesis.
Full page of Death Notices - the final entry is for Mary Ames. The opening sections cannot be read clearly (see other photo from this document), you can read that her father was Rinaldo Burleigh, and her cause of death was paralysis. The top line about returning these documents in perfect condition is also somehow quaint and touchingly humorous.
A document from the Royal National Gallery of Berlin, signed by its first director, Max Jordan, giving Charles C. Burleigh Jr. permission to exhibit a work from the collection.
