Whileone an old Segonnets sea-girt stoud
There wound a wight was wondrous & eke wize
Who was yesure the wornder of the loud
For sauntly gifts unshourt of vouetize
Hight Ruth, for ruth did all her ghost agize
We any wight mate with the same compare
For vertus meet & antigme lose profound
In making pies & journey-cakës rare
And all ais-dainty things that good to eaten are.
In seenly weeds without incouth show
Of seely witlesse was the Mayden sight
A gypsy hood from which the hairës blow
Upon her head in fudgy-wise was pight
Her comly roles rayled to her kikës quight
No any bustte’s uncough coigne was seen
So jointy huge as to provoken fright
But all was asnëd with a modest mien
That all who saw areed, a comly wight she been
Her corage stout no mayors dool would bayte
Furtly she wox of stomach plenary
For what she cast oftsoons she did complate
And aljates didn’t mougre hayardry
Whether with besom in in in the huttirg
Or aight with noon the doruitr’s assryed
All that she rent with vigor suroughter she
Till to her rayne all for falken were alieged
Yet they Ninthe less remereied her, thosters diseyed.
